POWERGRID Shri Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan Appointed as Chairman & Managing Director

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has officially appointed Shri Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). Shri Vamsi, who previously served as the company’s Director (Projects), assumed his new leadership role effective April 1, 2026. His tenure as CMD will continue until his superannuation on July 31, 2030, or until further orders are issued by the government.

Leadership Transition at POWERGRID

Following a recent directive from the Ministry of Power, Shri Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan has officially taken charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of POWERGRID. Bringing over 33 years of experience in the power transmission and telecom sectors, Shri Vamsi transitions to the top role after a successful stint as the company’s Director (Projects).

Professional Background and Expertise

Shri Vamsi is an engineering graduate with advanced management credentials from the Management Development Institute (MDI, Gurugram) and the Indian School of Business (ISB, Hyderabad). Throughout his career, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s regulatory strategy and was a founding member of the company’s Regulatory Cell. His expertise spans critical business domains, including Procurement, Commercial, Asset Management, and Telecom.

Track Record in Strategic Growth

During his tenure as CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices Limited, Shri Vamsi spearheaded the expansion of the company’s telecom business and initiated its first Data Centre project. As Director (Projects), he was instrumental in achieving record-breaking levels of Capitalisation and CAPEX for the organization. Known for his focus on digitalization and mechanization, he has introduced significant reforms in project monitoring, which have improved transparency and execution efficiency across large-scale infrastructure projects nationwide.
