Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a significant milestone by adding over 5 GW (5,051 MW) of renewable energy capacity in FY26. This accomplishment marks the highest annual greenfield capacity expansion by any company globally, excluding China. With this, AGEL’s total operational portfolio has reached 19.3 GW, reinforcing its leadership in India’s renewable energy sector and accelerating the nation’s transition toward a low-carbon economy.
Record-Breaking Expansion
During the financial year 2025–26, AGEL successfully commissioned 5,051 MW of new renewable energy assets. The expansion comprises 3,409 MW of solar, 686 MW of wind, and 956 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. This rapid deployment is expected to offset approximately 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, contributing to a total projected annual carbon offset of 36 million tonnes across the company’s entire 19.3 GW operational portfolio.
Strategic Focus at Khavda
The majority of this growth is centered at the world’s largest renewable energy plant located in Khavda, Gujarat. Spanning 538 square kilometers—an area five times the size of Paris—the Khavda site has already reached a cumulative installed capacity of 9.4 GW. The site utilizes advanced bifacial solar modules, solar trackers, and 5.2 MW wind turbines to maximize energy output while maintaining near-zero water usage through robotic cleaning systems.
Energy Storage and Future Targets
In addition to generation capacity, AGEL has launched an initial 1,376 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at Khavda. This deployment was completed within eight months, significantly enhancing grid stability and renewable integration. These advancements are essential components of AGEL’s roadmap to reach an operational capacity of 50 GW by 2030, while maintaining its status as a top-ranked performer in global sustainability ratings.
