ZF CVCS Wins Major ADAS Nomination for Bus Platform

ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited (CVCS) announced that it has secured a significant business nomination from a leading Indian Commercial Vehicle OEM to supply an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite for the customer’s new bus platforms. This development underscores ZF’s continued investment in the Indian ADAS roadmap for commercial vehicles.

Integrated Safety Solution Details

The core of the awarded solution is ZF’s OnGuardMAX, the company’s most advanced driver assistance platform for commercial vehicles. This platform combines a front camera, mid-range radar, and an image processing module to enable critical functions such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

To complement OnGuardMAX, the solution integrates Short-Range Radar (SRR), which provides near-field coverage for enhanced protection of Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) by addressing critical blind spots. The SRR supports compliance with MOIS (Moving Off Information System) and BSIS (Blind Spot Information System) requirements.

Key Technology Highlights and Benefits:

  • OnGuardMAX multi-sensor fusion enables features like AEBS, LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System), and DDAW (Departure Delay Warning).
  • The integrated system offers a comprehensive set of 16 advanced features, including the mandatory GSR 184(E) features.
  • The architecture is future-ready and scalable, engineered to support automation requirements up to SAE Level 2.
  • The system has been rigorously locally validated for over 4,50,000 km of Indian road testing and is ARAI certified for GSR 184(E) compliance.

Program Scope and Roadmap

The business nomination covers the entire scope, including system supply, vehicle integration, calibration, and validation for the specified bus platforms. The Start of Production (SOP) is currently targeted for the first quarter of 2027 (Q1 2027).

Paramjit Singh Chadha, Managing Director of ZF CVCS India, emphasized the strategic importance of ADAS in India, noting the company’s proven competence in delivering solutions tailored to local driving conditions.

Akash Passey, Non-Executive Chairman of ZF CVCS India, highlighted that ZF Commercial Vehicles Division will continue its ADAS development efforts, spanning trucks, trailers, coaches, and buses, leveraging global engineering expertise combined with strong local validation capabilities.
