This update follows declarations of Commercial Operation (COD) for parts of two major solar projects in Gujarat by its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). The declarations, effective March 31, 2026, added 168.02 MW to the group’s operational capacity.

NTPC Limited has disclosed significant capacity additions following declarations from its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). These additions confirm the commissioning of key renewable energy assets, pushing the total installed capacity of the NTPC group to 89,057 MW. The group’s total commercial capacity now stands at 87,977 MW.
Details of Solar Project Commissioning
The capacity declaration, effective from March 31, 2026 (00:00 hrs), pertains to two substantial solar power projects located in Gujarat:
- Khavda-I Solar PV Project: The final part capacity of 78.02 MW (part of the 1255 MW total) was declared operational. This marked the twelfth and final segment commissioning for this project.
- Khavda-II Solar PV Project: An additional capacity of 90 MW was declared operational. This constitutes the sixth part capacity of the 1200 MW Khavda-II project.
These combined additions total 168.02 MW commissioned on the same date.
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) Status
The announcement originated from NGEL, which detailed the successful COD for assets held by its wholly-owned subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited. Following these additions, the commercial capacity for the entire NGEL Group has increased to 9,907.68 MW, with the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group now standing at 10,075.70 MW.
