NTPC Limited Group Capacity Reaches 88,889 MW Following Subsidiary COD Declarations

NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has reached 88,889 MW, with commercial capacity standing at 87,809 MW, following key declarations by its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). Two solar projects have declared Commercial Operation Date (COD): 75 MW at Bhadla Solar PV Project effective March 25, 2026, and 105 MW at Khavda-II Solar PV Project effective March 29, 2026. These additions mark significant progress in NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio expansion.

NTPC Group Capacity Milestones Achieved

NTPC Limited announced significant updates regarding the capacity addition across its group portfolio, driven by the commissioning activities of its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). As of the reporting date, the total installed capacity of the entire NTPC group now stands at an impressive 88,889 MW, with the aggregate commercial capacity finalized at 87,809 MW.

Bhadla Solar Project Commissioning

The first capacity addition involved the Bhadla Solar PV Project located in Phalodi, Rajasthan. The third and final component capacity of 75 MW (out of a total 500 MW project) was declared on Commercial Operation with an effective date of March 25, 2026. This effectively completed the generation contribution from this specific project segment.

Khavda-II Solar Project Expansion

Further expansion was confirmed for the Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat. The fifth tranche of capacity, amounting to 105 MW (out of the total 1200 MW project), achieved COD at 00:00 hrs on March 29, 2026. This follows previous declarations that incrementally built up the total capacity for this large-scale solar initiative.

NTPC Green Energy Limited Portfolio Update

The announcements detailed the impact on the dedicated renewable energy arm. Following the 75 MW Bhadla COD, the commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group was reported at 9,727.68 MW, with the total installed capacity increasing to 9,802.68 MW. Subsequent to the 105 MW Khavda-II COD, the commercial capacity increased to 9,802.68 MW, pushing the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group up to 9,907.68 MW.
