Profile of the New Director
Shri Thakur is an officer of the 1998 batch of the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS). He holds a Post-Graduate degree in Literature and a PGDM-HR from TISS. His extensive 25 years of experience spans various critical HR and administrative roles within Indian Railways and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), including key management positions in divisions like Solapur, Bhopal, and Mumbai. Prior to this appointment, he served as Director (Human Resources) on the Board of BHEL, starting July 4, 2023.
Key Achievements and Experience
During his tenure at BHEL, Shri Thakur spearheaded critical HR initiatives, focusing on restructuring functions, revising HR policies for agility, and introducing incentive schemes like the Uniform Incentive Scheme and the Multi-Skilling Reward Scheme. He also managed crucial areas such as optimal utilization of company properties and streamlining litigation monitoring. His background also includes leading large-scale recruitment drives, having successfully managed the hiring of approximately twelve thousand employees as Chairman of the Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway.

The announcement confirms that Shri Krishna Kumar Thakur is not related to any other existing Directors on the Board of NMDC Steel Limited. The current list of directors now includes Shri Amitava Mukherjee (Chairman & Managing Director), along with functional directors Shri Vinay Kumar and Shri Joydeep Dasgupta.
