NBCC (India) Limited has announced that the Government of Rajasthan has revised the cabinet approval for the development of the Rajasthan Mandapam Convention Centre and allied urban projects to approximately ₹5,800 crore. This is an increase from the previously announced ₹3,700 crore. The project, executed for RIICO, involves massive infrastructure, including convention facilities, commercial spaces, and riverfront revitalization near the Jaipur International Airport, marking a significant infrastructure milestone for the state.
Major Project Value Enhancement Confirmed
NBCC (India) Limited has issued a press release confirming a substantial upward revision in the financial scope of a key project in Rajasthan. The Government of Rajasthan has granted revised cabinet approval for the development of the Rajasthan Mandapam Convention Centre and associated urban development initiatives. The total approved project value now stands at approximately ₹5,800 crore (including GST), up from the earlier intimated value of ₹3,700 crore, as of the announcement on March 19, 2026.
Project Details and Scale
This transformative initiative is being executed by NBCC for the client, Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation (RIICO). The project site is located near the Jaipur International Airport, spanning over 90 acres, with a projected total Built Up Area (BuA) exceeding 94.53 lakh sq.ft.
The master plan is a comprehensive, mixed-use development featuring:
- An iconic convention centre (BuA over 9 lakh sq.ft.), including the Padam Mandap with seating for approximately 6500 persons.
- Grand expo halls (BuA around 7 lakh sq.ft.).
- Global Capability Centres (GCCs) & IT/ITES Office Spaces (BuA around 18 lakh sq.ft.).
- Hotels, Retail, and Housing (BuA over 10.76 lakh sq.ft.).
- A Natural History Museum and Fintech plaza.
- Revitalization of the Dravyawati riverfront into vibrant public space.
Execution and Implementation Strategy
NBCC will implement the project using a robust, self-financing model to ensure long-term financial sustainability while maintaining world-class standards of transparency and efficiency. Reaffirming its commitment to timely delivery, NBCC plans to float tenders for the project in April, transitioning the scheme from the planning phase to active execution. The development aims to establish Jaipur as a premier global destination for conventions and business.
Ceremonial Unveiling
The scope revision was announced following an event on the eve of Rajasthan Diwas where the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, along with cabinet ministers and NBCC CMD, Dr. K. P. Mahadevaswamy, unveiled the pictorial digital views of the Mandapam. The presentation received an overwhelming response and a standing ovation, underscoring confidence in the project’s vision and execution capability by NBCC.
