NMDC Steel Limited has formally announced the appointment of Shri Anurag Kapil, IRAS, as the new Director (Finance) on its Board. The appointment, communicated by the Ministry of Steel, is effective immediately upon him assuming charge and will be for an initial period of 5 years. Mr. Kapil’s appointment on the Board of NMDC Steel is also effective, mirroring the existing understanding for other functional directors.

NMDC Steel Limited issued a notification regarding a significant change in its senior management structure, confirming the appointment of a new Director (Finance). The communication, received from the Ministry of Steel (MoS), Government of India, formalized the induction of Shri Anurag Kapil, IRAS.
Details of the Appointment
Shri Anurag Kapil, previously serving as ED (Finance) – Expenditure at the Railway Board, has been appointed to the position of Director (Finance) on the Board of NMDC Limited. This appointment is on an immediate absorption basis. The tenure is set for a period of 5 years commencing from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Implications for NMDC Steel Board
Furthermore, the company noted a previous directive from the Ministry of Steel dated 20.03.2023, which established that the CMD, Functional Directors, and Government Directors of the parent company (NMDC Limited) would also serve in the corresponding roles on the Board of NMDC Steel Limited on a co-terminus basis.
Consequently, Shri Anurag Kapil will also assume the role of Director (Finance) on the Board of NMDC Steel Limited, effective from the date he takes charge pursuant to the Ministry’s Order dated 18.03.2026. The formal intimation was disseminated to the stock exchanges by Company Secretary Aniket Kulshreshtha.
