NMDC Limited Executes MoU with Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation for Rare Earth Exploration

NMDC Limited announced the execution of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC) on March 16, 2026. This strategic collaboration focuses on exploring and strengthening cooperation in the Rare Earth Elements (REE) sector. The primary aim is to develop an integrated rare earth value chain in India, covering exploration, mining, processing, and downstream manufacturing to secure critical mineral supplies.

Strategic Partnership for Critical Minerals

NMDC Limited has formalized a strategic alliance with the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC), an enterprise of the Government of Gujarat. The partnership was established through a Non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 16.03.2026.

Focus on Rare Earth Elements (REE)

The core objective of this MoU is to foster mutual cooperation concerning Rare Earth Elements (REE) and associated minerals. The parties intend to work together to bolster India’s supply chain for these critical minerals. This effort includes developing a comprehensive, integrated rare earth value chain within the country.

Value Chain Development

The envisioned collaboration spans the entire life cycle of rare earth resources, encompassing exploration, mining, processing, separation, and subsequent downstream manufacturing activities. The initiative aims to solidify domestic capabilities in this technologically significant area.
