JSW Steel Reports Consolidated Crude Steel Production of 23.66 Lakh Tonnes for February 2026

JSW Steel announced its consolidated crude steel production for February 2026 totaled 23.66 Lakh Tonnes. This represents a marginal 2% year-over-year (YoY) decline. The dip was primarily due to the ongoing capacity upgrade shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at Vijayanagar, which impacted Indian operations, resulting in a -1% YoY performance for that segment. Excluding the impact of BF3, Indian operations saw volume growth of approximately ~8%.

February 2026 Production Summary

JSW Steel has reported its consolidated Crude Steel production figures for February 2026, which stood at 23.66 Lakh Tonnes. This figure reflects a 2% decrease compared to the 24.07 Lakh Tonnes produced in February 2025.

Operational Impacts and Performance Breakdown

The primary factor affecting production levels was the planned shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at Vijayanagar, which commenced in September 2025 for capacity upgradation. This shutdown led to a -1% YoY result for Indian operations.

However, if the impact of BF3 is excluded from the previous year’s base, the company observed a positive growth trend of approximately ~8% YoY, driven by the full ramp-up of JVML operations.

Capacity utilization for Indian operations stood robustly at ~97% when excluding BF3 capacity, and 88% when including the offline capacity.

Production from the JSW Steel USA – Ohio operations was lower, decreasing by 20% YoY to 0.60 Lakh Tonnes, attributed to post-caster upgrade ramp-up activities and severe winter weather conditions.

Particulars (Lakh Tonnes) February 2026 February 2025 YoY
Indian Operations 23.06 23.32 -1%
JSW Steel USA – Ohio 0.60 0.75 -20%
Consolidated Production 23.66 24.07 -2%

Commitment to Sustainability and Growth

JSW Steel, the flagship of the US$ 23 billion JSW Group, continues to emphasize sustainability and innovation. The company is driving toward ambitious decarbonization targets, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by 42% by 2030 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions across all direct operations by 2050. Furthermore, JSW aims to power its steelmaking entirely by renewable energy by 2030.

The company is on a significant growth trajectory, planning to increase its consolidated crude steel capacity from the current 35.7 MTPA to 48.9 MTPA over the next four years. This expansion will be anchored by its facility in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, which is already India’s largest single-location steel producer with 17.5 MTPA capacity.

Corporate Recognition

JSW Steel has received consistent recognition for its operational excellence and ESG commitment. Notable accolades include being named a Steel Sustainability Champion by the World Steel Association for seven consecutive years (2019 to 2025) and achieving high rankings in global sustainability indices like the DJSI 2024 and S&P Global CSA 2025, where it ranked #1 globally in the steel sector.
