Confirmation of Mega* Shipbuilding Contract

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has formalized the agreement for a significant new order, moving beyond the initial Letter of Intent (LOI) previously communicated on October 14, 2025. Today, February 18, 2026, CSL executed the formal contract with M/s. CMA CGM, France, in New Delhi for the design and construction of six (6) feeder container vessels.

Vessel Specifications and Order Value

Each vessel contracted will feature a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEU and will be powered using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel, highlighting CSL’s capability in modern, green technology shipbuilding.

This order is categorized as a Mega* order based on CSL’s internal classification criteria. Although the exact value is not specified in this update, the preceding LOI announcement classified the order value as Above ₹2000 Crore (Mega category).

Delivery Schedule

The contract specifies a clear delivery timeline: the first vessel is scheduled for delivery within 36 months of the contract signing. The final vessel in the series of six is expected to be delivered within a maximum period of 64 months from February 18, 2026.
