Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) has formally notified stakeholders regarding a change in its Board of Directors. The Board has appointed Dr. Rajender Kumar, IAS (DIN: 07161855), as an Additional Director. This decision was finalized in the Board meeting held today, February 10, 2026, following the recommendation from the Nomination & Remuneration Committee.

The appointment is effective from February 10, 2026, and is subject to the subsequent approval by the Shareholders of the Company.

Profile of the New Additional Director

Dr. Rajender Kumar, IAS, is a 2004-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the Gujarat Cadre, holding a B.A.M.S. qualification. His extensive experience spans over two decades in public administration and development economics.

Key Experience Highlights:

  • Served as District Development Officer and Collector & District Magistrate for districts including Bharuch, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Surat, focusing on service delivery, sanitation, and disaster management.
  • From 2016 to 2021, he held policy formulation roles in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), contributing to flagship programs like Swachh Bharat Mission, Smart Cities Mission, and the formulation of the National Education Policy 2020.
  • During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was the sectoral officer in-charge of health within the PMO, coordinating India’s pandemic response and vaccine strategy.
  • From 2021 to 2024, he served on the Board of the World Bank as an Advisor to the Executive Director for India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, and represented India at the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
  • In July 2024, he was appointed Secretary to the Government of Gujarat for Tourism and Civil Aviation. Since January 2026, he has been posted as Commissioner of Transport, Government of Gujarat, and holds the charge of MD, GSFC.

The company confirms that Dr. Rajender Kumar is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any authority. Furthermore, the disclosure confirms there are no disclosed relationships between the new director and any existing directors.
