Tata Technologies Launches WATTSync Platform to Support India’s Battery Aadhaar Ecosystem

Tata Technologies has unveiled its battery intelligence platform, WATTSync, demonstrating its readiness for India’s forthcoming Battery Aadhaar ecosystem. The platform ensures alignment with global standards, including the EU Battery Regulation. WATTSync facilitates the generation and management of the 21-character Battery Pack Aadhaar Number (BPAN), offering secure, QR-code enabled digital identity and traceability across the entire battery lifecycle, from manufacturing to end-of-life.

Introducing WATTSync for Battery Traceability

On February 10, 2026, Tata Technologies announced that its battery intelligence platform, WATTSync, is fully equipped to meet the digital identity and traceability requirements of India’s upcoming Battery Aadhaar framework. This solution is designed to maintain seamless alignment with international standards, specifically the EU Battery Regulation (EU BR 2023/1542), positioning it as a future-ready industry solution.

Core Capabilities for Compliance and Sustainability

WATTSync provides robust support for India’s mandated 21-character Battery Pack Aadhaar Number (BPAN), enabling manufacturers to generate and manage unique identifiers throughout the battery’s lifecycle. Key features supporting regulatory compliance include:

  • QR-Code Digital Identity: Facilitates secure access to static and dynamic battery data, supporting authentication mechanisms required by both Indian and EU ecosystems.
  • Comprehensive Data Models: The static data model natively supports required Battery Aadhaar fields, including manufacturer details, material composition, chemistry, and Carbon Footprint (BCF).
  • Dynamic Data Integration: Seamlessly integrates with Battery Management Systems (BMS) to handle dynamic data mandates such as State of Health (SoH), charge-discharge cycles, and thermal events.
  • Secure Data Exchange: Enables secure, API-based data exchange with authorized central servers for traceability and auditability as required by emerging mandates.

Advanced Intelligence and Circular Economy Support

The platform’s cloud-ready, microservices architecture supports advanced analytics for sustainable mobility. Its integrated AI-driven analytics focus strongly on safety and reliability, offering capabilities like thermal anomaly detection and Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimation. Furthermore, WATTSync supports India’s circular economy goals by enabling crucial end-of-life information exchange, recovered-material documentation, and carbon-footprint tracking, aligning with material recovery requirements.

For domestic production, especially under the ACC-PLI scheme, WATTSync ensures secure provenance documentation and traceability of cell origin, helping to foster transparent and fraud-resistant supply chains.
