Thomas Cook India Partners with Mauritius Tourism to Boost India Market

Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel have partnered with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) to increase Mauritius’ visibility in the Indian market. The collaboration aims to highlight Mauritius’ cultural heritage, cuisine, and diverse attractions, targeting leisure, MICE, and corporate travel segments. The long-term partnership focuses on destination knowledge, product development, and marketing initiatives across India’s metros and emerging markets.

Strategic Alliance for Tourism Growth

Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA). This partnership seeks to leverage India’s high-potential market to enhance tourism to Mauritius. The MOU was formalized on February 6, 2026.

Focus Areas and Objectives

The collaboration will focus on expanding Mauritius’ visibility and attracting more visitors from India. Key areas of emphasis include:

  • Highlighting Mauritius’ diverse offerings beyond beaches, including its Creole heritage and cultural diversity.
  • Targeting various segments such as honeymooners, multi-generational families, millennials, and corporate travelers.
  • Promoting Mauritius as a MICE destination with world-class facilities.
  • Expanding destination knowledge through education and product development.
  • Implementing marketing initiatives across metro and Tier 2/3 markets in India.

Targeting Key Demographics

The partnership aims to showcase Mauritius’ appeal to a broad spectrum of Indian travelers. The destination’s visa-free access and short flight durations make it an attractive option. Mauritius is also gaining traction for MICE events, offering integrated meeting facilities and unique team-building experiences.

Nandakumar, President & Country Head at SOTC Travel Limited, highlighted that the MOU marks a significant milestone in positioning Mauritius as a multifaceted destination with French influence, Creole heritage, and diverse religious traditions. He also noted that this partnership will showcase the destination’s depth and drive sustained demand across leisure, honeymoon, multi-generational families, MICE, and corporate travel segments.

Mr. Benoit Harter, Director at Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, stated that the partnership will help grow the Indian market for Mauritius and accelerate visitation from both metro cities and regional markets.
