SJVN Achieves COD for 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project in Assam

SJVN has announced the successful Commercial Operation Date (COD) of its 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project in Assam. Executed via subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the project, built on 330 acres, is expected to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year and about 3,230 million units over 25 years, supplying power to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).

Dhubri Solar Plant Commences Operations

SJVN has reached a key milestone with the commissioning of its 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project located in Assam. The project achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD), marking a significant step in the company’s renewable energy portfolio.

Project Details and Location

The 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project, developed through SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), is situated in Village Khudigaon Pt. II, District Dhubri, Assam. The project spans 330 acres of lease-based land and was completed with a project cost of Rs. 367.44 crores.

Expected Power Generation

The solar power project is projected to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year of operation. Over a period of 25 years, it is expected to cumulatively generate approximately 3,230 million units. The project has a maximum usage charge fixed at Rs 3.92 per unit.

Power Supply and Environmental Impact

The power generated from the Dhubri Solar Power Project will be supplied to the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,58,270 tonnes, contributing to climate action and green job creation.

Foundation and Regional Significance

The foundation stone for the project was laid on March 4, 2024, by the Prime Minister of India, marking it as the first large-scale solar project in Assam and SJVN’s initial operational project in the North Eastern Region.
