IndiGo CCI Orders Probe into Alleged Artificial Shortage of Seats

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered an investigation into IndiGo over allegations of creating an ‘artificial shortage’ of seats. The probe follows concerns raised after disruptions in December 2025. The CCI’s Director General (DG) has been directed to initiate the investigation. IndiGo has issued a disclosure and is currently reviewing the order and will take appropriate action.

CCI Investigation Initiated

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has directed an investigation into IndiGo concerning allegations of creating an ‘artificial shortage’ of seats, following disruptions in December 2025. The order, dated February 4, 2026, instructs the CCI’s Director General (DG) to initiate the probe.

Details of the Order

The CCI’s order is a prima facie directive to initiate an investigation under Section 26(1) of the Competition Act, 2002. The company has stated it made a disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, and is currently reviewing the order and will decide upon appropriate course of action.
