ICAI Award for Sustainability Reporting

Hindustan Zinc has won the ‘Best BRSR Report – Manufacturing (Large Cap)’ award at the 4th ICAI Sustainability Reporting Awards. This award acknowledges Hindustan Zinc’s dedication to strong governance, responsible production methods, and open disclosure of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

Commitment to ESG Standards

The award highlights the increasing importance of clear, useful, comparable, and verifiable sustainability data for investors and regulators. Hindustan Zinc’s FY 2024-25 BRSR was specifically recognized for its strong governance-led disclosures, which provided a structured view of key ESG indicators. These indicators included information on energy use, emissions, water management, biodiversity efforts, worker health and safety measures, community impact, and business ethics.

Leadership in Sustainable Practices

Hindustan Zinc has been proactive in adopting sustainability reporting standards. The company voluntarily started Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) in FY 2021–22, ahead of regulatory requirements. The company is the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and amongst the top 5 silver producers globally.

Renewable Energy & Emission Reduction

Hindustan Zinc is dedicated to sustainability by integrating decarbonization efforts, transitioning to clean energy, and responsibly managing resources. In March 2025, the company signed an agreement with Serentica Renewables to increase its green-power capacity to 530 MW, aiming to source 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by FY28. During the year, Hindustan Zinc recorded 6.7 lakh tonnes of GHG emission savings.
