IndusInd Bank Arijit Basu Appointed as Part-Time Chairman

IndusInd Bank has announced the appointment of Arijit Basu as the Part-Time Chairman, effective January 31, 2026. This follows the completion of Sunil Mehta’s tenure. Basu’s term will last for three years, subject to shareholder approval. He brings extensive experience from previous roles at State Bank of India and HDB Financial Services Ltd., among others.

Leadership Transition

Arijit Basu has been appointed as the Part-Time Chairman of IndusInd Bank, effective January 31, 2026. This appointment follows the completion of Sunil Mehta’s tenure, who ceased to be the Part-Time Chairman and Director on January 30, 2026.

Appointment Details

Basu’s term will be for a period of three years, concluding on January 30, 2029, subject to the approval of the bank’s shareholders. He holds a master’s degree in arts from the University of Delhi and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

Arijit Basu’s Background

Prior to this appointment, Arijit Basu served as Chairman of the Board at HDB Financial Services Ltd., a subsidiary of HDFC Bank Ltd. He previously retired as a Board Member and Managing Director of State Bank of India. He was also the MD & CEO of SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. Currently, he serves as an Independent Director on the boards of Prudential Plc, Peerless Hospitex, and CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions Ltd.

Declaration

It is confirmed that Arijit Basu is not debarred from holding the office of Director of the Bank by any order of regulatory authority.
