Blue Star has announced board-level changes, including the appointment of M S Unnikrishnan as an Independent Director, effective January 29, 2026, for five years. B Thiagarajan has been reappointed as Managing Director from April 1, 2026, until May 24, 2027. Mohit Sud has been elevated as Executive Director, Unitary Cooling Products, effective April 1, 2026. Sam Balsara will retire on January 31, 2026.
Sam Balsara’s Retirement
Sam Balsara, Chairman of Madison World, will retire from Blue Star on January 31, 2026, after serving two consecutive terms as an Independent Director. He joined the Blue Star Board in June 2017 and was reappointed in June 2022. His marketing insights and contributions to the Nomination and Remuneration Committee have been invaluable.
Appointment of M S Unnikrishnan
M S Unnikrishnan has been appointed as an Independent Director, effective January 29, 2026, for a term of 5 years. He is currently the Head & CEO of the IITB-Monash Research Academy. He previously served as the Managing Director of Thermax group.
Reappointment of B Thiagarajan
B Thiagarajan has been reappointed as Managing Director for a further term from April 1, 2026, up to May 24, 2027. He has been with Blue Star since 1998 and was appointed as Joint Managing Director in 2016 before becoming Managing Director in April 2019.
Mohit Sud’s Elevation
Mohit Sud has been elevated to the position of Executive Director, Unitary Cooling Products, effective April 1, 2026, for a period of five years. He joined Blue Star in March 2025 as Group President, Unitary Cooling Products.
