The discovery occurred in a Discovered Small Field (‘DSF’) Block where Vedanta holds 100% participating interest. The DSF-III round Block was awarded in September 2022. Further evaluations are underway to assess the discovery’s potential and incorporate it into the field development plan.
Hydrocarbon Discovery Details
Vedanta Limited has announced a hydrocarbon (gas) discovery in its appraisal well, Ambe-2A. The well was drilled in a Discovered Small Field (‘DSF’) Block. This announcement was made on January 23, 2026.
DSF Block Information
The Discovered Small Field (DSF-III) round Block was awarded to Vedanta Limited in September 2022. Vedanta holds 100% participating interest in this block. The discovery was made in reservoirs below the main gas field, within the Miocene-Tarkeshwar formation.
Future Plans
Vedanta is currently conducting further evaluations to assess the potential of the discovery. These evaluations will help in incorporating the discovery within the field development plan for the block.
