CESC’s subsidiary, CESC Green Power Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Governor of Uttar Pradesh on January 20, 2026, to establish a 3 GW Solar Cell/module plant and a 60 MW Solar Power Plant. The project includes ancillary units, a Research & Development Lab, and other infrastructural facilities with an investment of approximately Rs. 3,800 crores.
Uttar Pradesh Solar Initiative
CESC Green Power Limited, a subsidiary of CESC, is set to develop significant solar power infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. The company has formalized its intent through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government, dated January 20, 2026.
Project Details and Investment
The agreement outlines plans for the establishment of a 3 GW Solar Cell/module plant. In addition, the project will also include a 60 MW Solar Power Plant. The total investment for this multifaceted project is estimated to be around Rs. 3,800 crores. The project also incorporates the construction of ancillary units, as well as a Research & Development Lab and supporting infrastructure, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to solar energy development in the region.
