General Insurance Corporation Hitesh Joshi’s Tenure Extended

The tenure of Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) at General Insurance Corporation (GIC Re) has been extended. The extension is effective from January 1, 2026, for a period of three months, or until a regular CMD is appointed, or until further notice, whichever occurs first. This extension has been approved by the Government of India.

Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi will continue in his role as ED, with the powers of the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD). His extended tenure began on January 1, 2026. This decision ensures continuity in leadership while the process of appointing a permanent CMD is underway.

Terms of Extension

The extension of tenure for Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi is valid for a period of three months. The extension may also end if a regular CMD is appointed sooner, or if the government issues further orders.

Executive Profile

Hitesh R. Joshi holds a master’s degree in Accountancy from Mumbai University and a master’s degree in financial management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. He has experience in reinsurance, finance, internal audit, budgetary control, and investor relations. As Executive Director, he oversees International Business Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Office Services, Business Intelligence, and Actuarial functions.
