Chennai Petroleum Appoints S.G. Venkatesh as Director (Technical)

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has announced the appointment of Shri S.G. Venkatesh as Director (Technical) to its Board, effective January 5, 2026. Shri Venkatesh previously held the position of Executive Director (Petrochemicals) at IOCL. He brings 31 years of experience in petroleum refining operations and petrochemicals to CPCL. His appointment enhances CPCL’s technical capabilities and strategic direction.

Profile of S.G. Venkatesh

Prior to joining CPCL’s Board, Shri S.G. Venkatesh held the position of Executive Director (Petrochemicals) at IOCL. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kerala. With 31 years of experience, he specializes in petroleum refining operations, process design and optimization, and petrochemicals. He is known for driving revenue growth and leading strategic direction for a diverse portfolio of chemicals.

Experience and Expertise

Shri Venkatesh has extensive experience in refinery production planning, process optimization, and process plant design. He has led teams in the process design for both grass root and revamp of refinery units. His technical proficiency includes advanced simulation software such as Pro-II, Aspen Plus, and HYSYS.
