Emergency Response Mobilized
Following a reported gas leak during workover operations at Well Mori#5, ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd) has initiated a comprehensive emergency response. The incident occurred on January 5, 2026, at the Mori Field in Andhra Pradesh. The field is operated by Deep Industries Limited.
Immediate Actions Taken
The area has been cordoned off and cooling operations have started. ONGC has mobilized its Crisis Management Teams (CMT and RCMT) to manage the situation. Preparatory work is underway to facilitate well-control and capping operations, if needed.
Location and Safety
The well is located in a remote area, with a radius of approximately 500–600 metres and no human habitation. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life have been reported in connection with this incident.
International Collaboration
ONGC has also initiated coordination with international well-control specialists to support advanced well-control and casing-cutting operations. Mobilisation arrangements are being implemented, subject to site assessment.
