Significant Wins for Minerals & Metals Business
Larsen & Toubro’s Minerals & Metals (M&M) business has secured major orders from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and other key customers. These orders involve EPC projects and products, bolstering L&T’s presence in the domestic metals sector. The announcement was made on January 2, 2026.
IISCO Steel Plant Expansion
SAIL is undertaking modernization and expansion at the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal, increasing crude steel capacity from 2.5 MTPA to 6.5 MTPA. L&T has been awarded the complete engineering, procurement, and installation package for critical process plants. These plants include the Coke Oven Battery, By-Product Plant, and Basic Oxygen Furnace.
Bokaro Steel Plant Expansion
Simultaneously, SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) in Jharkhand is undergoing a major upstream expansion. L&T will establish Sinter Plant #2, reinforcing its strong presence in the steel sector. This package further solidifies L&T’s dominant position in large scale steel plant infrastructure projects.
Material Handling Equipment Orders
The M&M business has also secured multiple orders for specialized material handling equipment. These include Stacker Reclaimers and Wagon Tipplers, reflecting L&T’s technological capabilities in the minerals and metals value chain.
