Bharti Airtel Department of Telecom Imposes Penalties for Subscriber Verification Issues

Bharti Airtel has received notices from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) regarding alleged violations of subscriber verification norms. These violations resulted in penalties totaling ₹3,62,000. The company will contest one penalty of ₹2,46,000 related to the Bihar region but will pay a ₹1,16,000 penalty for the Madhya Pradesh region without contest.

Subscriber Verification Penalties

Bharti Airtel has been notified by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) regarding penalties imposed for alleged non-compliance with subscriber verification norms. These penalties stem from Customer Application Form (CAF) audits conducted by the DoT.

Bihar LSA Penalty

The DoT’s Bihar division has imposed a penalty of ₹2,46,000 on Bharti Airtel. This penalty is a result of a CAF audit conducted in September 2025. Bharti Airtel disagrees with the findings and intends to challenge the penalty. The company will take action for rectification and reversal of the same.

Madhya Pradesh LSA Penalty

The DoT’s Madhya Pradesh division has imposed a penalty of ₹1,16,000 on Bharti Airtel. This penalty is a result of a CAF audit conducted in October 2025. The company will pay this penalty.
