Bharat Forge Secures Landmark Small Arms Contract for Indigenous Carbine

Bharat Forge Limited (BFL) has secured a major contract with the Ministry of Defence for ₹1,661.9 crores. The deal involves supplying 255,128 units of indigenously designed and developed CQB Carbines (5.56 x 45 mm) to the Indian Army. The contract, signed on December 30, 2025, is slated for execution over the next five years, supporting the ‘Made in India’ initiative.

Significant Defence Contract

Bharat Forge Limited (BFL) has been awarded a substantial contract by the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD), marking a significant achievement for the company. The contract is valued at ₹1,661.9 crores and involves the supply of 255,128 CQB Carbines (5.56 x 45 mm) to the Indian Army.

Indigenous Design and Development

The 5.56 x 45 mm CQB Carbine is an indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured (IDDM) compact firearm. It is a collaborative effort between the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), DRDO, and Bharat Forge Ltd., Pune.

Contract Details and Execution

The contract was officially signed on December 30, 2025, and stipulates that the order must be fulfilled within a five-year period. This contract reinforces Bharat Forge’s commitment to supporting the Indian Armed Forces with advanced, locally-made defence equipment and platforms.

Supporting ‘Made in India’ Initiative

Aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, Bharat Forge, along with its wholly-owned defence subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), remains dedicated to providing the Indian Armed Forces with ‘Made in India’ advanced defence equipment and platforms.
