The decision was made during a board meeting held on December 26, 2025. Shri Sairam’s appointment is effective from the date he assumes charge, until his superannuation, or until further orders are issued.
Profile of Shri B. Sairam
Shri Sairam has vast experience in the coal sector, with over 3 decades of dedicated service. Previously, he served as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CIL. He is a graduate mining engineer from NIT Raipur and holds an MBA in Energy Management from NTPC School of Business, Delhi.
His experience covers mine operations, project planning, logistics, and regulatory affairs. Before NCL, he was Director (Technical) at Central Coalfields Limited. He has also contributed to community development initiatives and played a crucial role in the Jayant expansion project which is considered the largest mining rehabilitation & resettlement programme.
