Partnership for Infrastructure Development
RITES Ltd. and the Government of Botswana have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance Botswana’s railway and transport infrastructure. The MoU, signed on December 19, 2025, outlines a collaborative effort to modernize transport systems and support overall infrastructure growth in the region.
Key Areas of Collaboration
Under this agreement, RITES will provide extensive technical expertise for the development and modernisation of railway systems. This includes the supply of rolling stock, commissioning, repair, operation and maintenance support, and modernisation of workshops. The collaboration extends to other transport infrastructure projects, including railways, highways, bridges, airports, and buildings.
Technical Support and Training
RITES will also provide capacity-building and technical training programs, facilitate knowledge exchange, and deliver quality assurance services. This includes third-party inspections, pre-shipment inspections, and final acceptance testing. Advanced information technology solutions, such as integrated train operations and passenger management systems, will also be deployed.
