APGST Notice Withdrawal
Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has updated stakeholders on the resolution of the APGST matter. The Directors have officially withdrawn the Writ Petition initially filed in response to demand notices issued under the Andhra Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (APGST) Act, 2017.
Background of the Issue
The initial demand notices, received in February 2025, claimed tax arrears of Rs. 15,48,06,528/- for the year 2023-24. These claims related to transactions undertaken by the IVRCL-KBL-MEIL Joint Venture (JV), focused on a water resources project in Andhra Pradesh. An additional demand notice, dated August 5, 2025, alleged arrears of Rs. 15,48,02,928/- for the year 2017-18.
Resolution and Current Status
Following the withdrawal of the demand notices by the Deputy Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Dwarakanagar Circle, Visakhapatnam-I Division, the Directors have also withdrawn their Writ Petition filed before the Hon’ble High Court for the State of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati. The order confirming this withdrawal was received on December 15, 2025, effectively closing the legal proceedings related to this matter.
