JSW Energy (Utkal) Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy Ltd, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with multiple Karnataka DISCOMs for the supply of 400 MW of power. The agreement spans 25 years, commencing on April 1, 2026, at a tariff of ₹5.78 per kWh. With this PPA, JSW Energy’s open capacity reduces to approximately 5%.
Power Supply Agreement
JSW Energy (Utkal) Limited has formalized a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply power to multiple Karnataka DISCOMs. The agreement guarantees a supply of 400 MW of power to the state.
Agreement Terms
The power supply will begin on April 1, 2026, and will continue for a period of 25 years. The agreed-upon tariff is set at ₹5.78 per kWh. This agreement provides a stable revenue stream and reduces JSW Energy’s open capacity to around 5% of its operational capacity.
Current Capacity
JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity is now at 30.5 GW, which includes 13.3 GW of operational capacity and 12.4 GW currently under construction. The company also has 150 MW of hydro capacity under acquisition and 4.6 GW development pipeline. Furthermore, they have 29.4 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity which includes 26.4 GWh of hydro pumped storage projects and 3.0 GWh of battery energy storage systems.
Strategic Goals
JSW Energy aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030. The company is also striving for carbon neutrality by 2050.
