Granules India has launched two advanced R&D Centers of Excellence at IIT Hyderabad’s Technology Research Park. These include the Ascelis Center for Peptide Development and Characterization, and the Granules Center for Particle Engineering. The move aims to enhance the company’s research capabilities and foster innovation in peptides and advanced material sciences. The centers will support the development of new technologies and strengthen Granules India’s position in the pharmaceutical sector.
New R&D Hubs Launched
Granules India Limited has inaugurated two new Centers of Excellence at the Technology Research Park of IIT Hyderabad on December 1, 2025. These centers focus on peptide development and particle engineering, enhancing the company’s research and development capabilities.
Ascelis Center for Peptide Development and Characterization
Established under Ascelis Peptides, this center will focus on developing cosmetic, therapeutic, and pharmaceutical peptides. It’s equipped for primary, secondary, and tertiary structure characterization. It will collaborate with Senn Chemicals in Switzerland to strengthen Granules’ global peptide offering.
Granules Center of Excellence for Particle Engineering
This center will advance polymorph research, material science, and novel drug delivery systems, including amorphous solid dispersions. It replaces external development with a dedicated research platform.
Strategic Implications
According to Dr Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, Chairman and Managing Director of Granules India, the new centers will strengthen capabilities in peptides and advanced material sciences, which are expected to define the next wave of pharmaceutical innovation. The company aims to enhance its CDMO ambitions and develop differentiated technologies.
