Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 300 MW DCR-compliant solar project for NHPC in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project features approximately 7,75,000 modules and is expected to offset around 13826400 tons of CO2 annually. The project supplies clean power to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
Bikaner Solar Project Commissioned
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) successfully commissioned NHPC Limited’s landmark 450 MWp (DC) / 300 MW (AC) DCR-compliant solar power project at Karnisar Bhatiyan, Bikaner, Rajasthan as the EPC contractor. The project was executed over two and a half years.
Project Details and Environmental Impact
The project features approximately 7,75,000 modules installed across challenging desert terrain. It is expected to offset around 13,826,400 tons of CO2 annually. This project supplies clean power to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
Domestic Manufacturing and Clean Energy
The plant features high-efficiency solar modules manufactured by TP Solar Limited, Tirunelveli, reinforcing the commitment to domestic manufacturing and sustainable energy advancement. The NHPC-owned project is supplying power to PSPCL and will generate approximately 17,230 million units of green electricity over its operational life.
Project Execution and Impact
The project stands out for its robust engineering and innovative execution in one of India’s most challenging terrains. It also had a socio-economic impact, employing more than 300 local workers and developing several local vendors, creating livelihood opportunities and boosting the regional economy.
Renewable Energy Capacity
With this successful commissioning, TPREL reinforces its position as a trusted partner for large-scale renewable energy projects and contributes to India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070. TPREL has commissioned over 4.9 GW of third-party projects, with more than 980 MW delivered this financial year alone.
Current Operational Capacity
TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 11.6 GW. Currently, 5.8 GW of this capacity is operational, comprising 4.7 GW of solar and 1.1 GW of wind energy. An additional 5.8 GW is under implementation, split between 3 GW of solar and 2.8 GW of wind projects. These projects are expected to be completed in the next 6 to 24 months.
