Grasim Industries Rakshit Hargave Resigns as CEO of Birla Opus Paints

Rakshit Hargave, CEO of Birla Opus Paints, has resigned from Grasim Industries to pursue other opportunities. His resignation was accepted by the Board of Directors, effective December 5, 2025. Himanshu Kapania, Managing Director of Grasim, will oversee the Paints business in the interim. Hargave played a key role in scaling the Decorative Paints business.

Leadership Change at Birla Opus Paints

Rakshit Hargave, the CEO of Birla Opus Paints, has decided to leave Grasim Industries, as announced on November 5, 2025. The Board of Directors accepted his resignation during a meeting held on the same day. His departure will be effective from the close of business hours on December 5, 2025.

Hargave’s Contributions

During his tenure, which began in November 2021, Mr. Hargave played a significant role in the start-up phase and initial scaling of Birla Opus Decorative Paints. He contributed to building a high-performing team and establishing six integrated manufacturing facilities.

Interim Leadership

While the company searches for a permanent successor, Mr. Himanshu Kapania, Managing Director of Grasim Industries, will directly oversee the Paints business to ensure continuity.
