Canara Bank Reports Strong Q2 Results with 13.55% Business Growth

Canara Bank announced its unaudited financial results for the second quarter (Q2: Jul-Sep) and half-year ended September 30, 2025. The bank reported a 13.55% year-on-year increase in global business. Global deposits grew by 13.40%, and global advances increased by 13.74%. Net profit saw a significant rise of 18.93%. Asset quality improved, with a reduction in gross and net non-performing assets.

Key Financial Highlights

Canara Bank’s global business reached ₹26,78,963 Cr, representing a growth of 13.55% compared to the previous year. Total global deposits amounted to ₹15,27,922 Cr, an increase of 13.40%. Global advances reached ₹11,51,041 Cr, marking a 13.74% rise. These figures reflect the bank’s strong performance during the period.

Growth in Key Sectors

RAM (Retail, Agriculture, and MSME) Credit experienced growth of 16.94%. Retail Credit grew by 29.11%, driven by Housing loan growth at 15.25% and Vehicle loan growth at 25.58%. MSME Credit stood at ₹1,53,777 Cr, growing by 12.70%.

Profitability and Asset Quality

The bank’s Operating Profit stood at ₹8,588 Cr, up by 12.20%. Net Profit reached ₹4,774 Cr, an increase of 18.93%. The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) improved to 93.59%, a rise of 270 bps. Earnings per share stood at ₹21.01, up by 20.68% YoY.

Improvement in Asset Quality

Gross NPA Ratio stood at 2.35%, reflecting an improvement of 138 bps. Net NPA Ratio improved to 0.54%, a decrease of 45 bps. Credit Cost stood at 0.68%, an improvement of 29 bps. The Slippage Ratio stood at 0.76%, improving by 24 bps.

Business Performance Summary

Domestic Deposits reached ₹13,94,999 Cr, growing by 12.62%. Domestic Advances amounted to ₹10,81,428 Cr, a growth of 13.34%. Retail Lending Portfolio increased to ₹2,51,190 Cr, growing by 29.11%. Housing Loan Portfolio increased by 15.25% to ₹1,14,615 Cr.

Capital Adequacy and Network

The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CRAR) stood at 16.20%. CET1 is 12.21%, Tier-I is 14.28%, and Tier-II is 1.92%. As of September 30, 2025, the bank has 9948 branches, including rural, semi-urban, urban, and metro locations, along with 7405 ATMs. Canara Bank also operates 4 overseas branches.
