Financial Highlights (Q2 FY27) Value
Revenue INR821 crore (up 11% YoY)
EBITDA INR202 crore (up 16% YoY)
EBITDA Margin 24.7%
PAT INR127 crore

Operational Achievements and Growth Initiatives

In a significant strategic move, GHCL has successfully commenced commercial production of its vacuum salt, leveraging its existing soda ash operations for energy efficiency. This is complemented by the recent commissioning of its bromine production facility. These projects represent key milestones in the company’s diversification journey, with the vacuum salt plant expected to reach its intended capacity by the end of FY27 and the bromine plant by the next financial year.

The company is also focusing on backward integration with expansions at its existing salt works and the development of new salt works at Zara Zumara, involving an investment of around INR450 crore. Additionally, a capex of INR88 crore has been approved for developing own railway siding infrastructure to enhance raw material logistics and cost efficiency.

Market Outlook and Strategy

GHCL’s strategy remains focused on operational efficiency, cost control, and disciplined financial management. Despite a global oversupplied soda ash market with elevated inventory levels, the company sees stable demand across user industries, with the lithium sector being a strong performer. While global pricing environment is expected to remain soft due to surplus production and geopolitical factors, GHCL anticipates a positive medium-term outlook for the Indian market, driven by solar glass capacity expansion.

The government’s imposition of a minimum import price on clear float glass for one year is expected to support domestic glass demand and, consequently, soda ash demand from this segment.

Financial Performance Details

For the half year ended September 30, 2026, GHCL reported revenue of INR1,619 crore, a 4% growth year-on-year. EBITDA grew by 9% to INR435 crore, with EBITDA margin improving to 26.9%. Profit After Tax (PAT) for the half year stood at INR278 crore. The company maintained a strong balance sheet with a net cash surplus of over INR1,070 crore at the half-year end, supporting strategic capex execution.

GHCL continues to focus on optimizing its cost structure and operational efficiency, positioning itself as a low-cost producer capable of capitalizing on market recoveries. The company also highlighted its commitment to returning cash to shareholders through dividends and buybacks, while judiciously allocating capital for growth opportunities.
