Name Change for Transmission SPV

PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), has informed about a significant name change concerning one of its Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). The entity previously known as WAHIPORA AND SALLAR TRANSMISSION LIMITED has been renamed to WAHIPORA-BAGHTHALI TRANSMISSION LIMITED.

Role in Transmission Projects

This SPV is a wholly-owned subsidiary established for the purpose of developing key transmission projects. PFCCL acts as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for selecting developers through tariff-based competitive bidding, as mandated by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The SPV is responsible for undertaking preparatory activities such as land acquisition and forest clearance, which are crucial steps in the development of Independent Transmission Projects (ITPs).

Project Context

The name change is linked to the restructuring of a transmission scheme previously approved as a single package. Following a meeting on May 21, 2026, the scheme was approved for development in multiple packages. Subsequently, letters from JKPTCL (Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited) on June 04, 2026 and July 08, 2026, appointed PFCCL as the BPC for re-initiating the bid process for projects including the ‘Construction of Grid Sub Station at Wahipora, Kashmir and allied Transmission System’ and ‘Construction of Grid Sub Station at Baghthali, Kathua’. The SPV, now named WAHIPORA-BAGHTHALI TRANSMISSION LIMITED, will facilitate the development of these transmission assets and will be transferred to the successful bidder post the bidding process.
