Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has announced its financial results for the second quarter and the first half of the fiscal year 2027, underscoring a period of robust growth and strategic expansion across its business verticals. The company emphasized its evolution into a mature, integrated infrastructure platform and utility.
Financial Highlights
During the quarter, AESL experienced significant financial upticks. Total income saw a growth of over 50 percent, while EBITDA increased by approximately 67 percent. Profit After Tax (PAT) surged by an impressive 145 percent. This strong financial performance reflects the company’s strategic focus and operational efficiency across its four core businesses: Transmission, Distribution, Smart Metering, and Energy Solutions.
Transmission Segment Growth
The Transmission segment continues to be a key growth driver. AESL added two new projects, Vizag Pendurthi and Satara, during the quarter, maintaining an order book of approximately INR87,000 crores. The company is focusing on critical transmission assets to integrate renewable energy and consumption, with planned capex of around INR14,000 crores for the transmission business, with a substantial portion of INR8,000 to INR9,000 crores expected in the second half of the current fiscal year.
Distribution and Smart Metering Expansion
In the Distribution segment, particularly for AEML and MUL, AESL reported exceptional operational performance. Distribution losses in Mumbai were reduced to 4.29 percent in the first half, despite a more than 10 percent increase in consumption. The Smart Metering vertical has successfully delivered approximately 14.8 million meters so far, with plans to complete the remaining order book within 12 to 14 months.
Energy Solutions Platform Development
The Energy Solutions platform is transitioning from incubation to scale, delivering over INR2,000 crores in revenue and over INR800 crores in EBITDA during the quarter. The company has secured tie-ups for 4 gigawatts of renewables and 3.5 gigawatts of base capacity, with ongoing efforts to expand its consumer side tie-ups, including a 2,500-megawatt RE-RTC contract with MSEDCL.
Capex and Asset Base
AESL currently holds an asset base of approximately INR83,000 crores. The company has already committed capex exceeding INR100,000 crores, expected to be delivered over the next 4 to 5 years, indicating a projected growth of 1.3x to 1.4x in its asset base. Approximately INR7,850 crores of capex was deployed in the first half of the year across all businesses.
Balance Sheet Strength and ESG Focus
On the financial front, AESL highlighted that a significant portion of its debt is fixed-rate or hedged, mitigating exposure to foreign exchange and interest rate volatility. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to governance and ESG principles, achieving the number one global rank in the S&P Global Electric Utility category with a score of 90 out of 100.
