Adani Power Reports Robust Q2 FY27 Financial Performance

Adani Power Limited (APL) has announced its financial results for the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27 (Q2 FY27), showcasing substantial year-on-year growth across key financial metrics. The company reported a sharp increase in Profit After Tax (PAT), which surged by 141.5% to ₹7,019 Crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared to ₹2,906 Crore in Q2 FY26. This growth was fueled by strong operational performance and the recognition of prior period revenue.

Revenue and EBITDA Growth

Continuing Revenue from Operations for Q2 FY27 increased by 29.8% to ₹17,014.06 Crore, up from ₹13,106.34 Crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This growth was attributed to higher power volumes, improved PPA tariffs, and enhanced merchant realization, supported by increased power demand and rising import coal prices. Overall, Total Continuing Revenue saw a 28.5% increase to ₹17,528.35 Crore.

Continuing EBITDA also demonstrated strong momentum, growing by 18.5% to ₹6,320.97 Crore in Q2 FY27, compared to ₹5,332.71 Crore in Q2 FY26. This improvement highlights the company’s core profitability strength despite higher fuel costs. Reported EBITDA saw a significant rise of 45.7% to ₹8,743.22 Crore.

Key Financial Drivers

The increase in revenue and EBITDA was driven by higher power demand and improved tariffs. Fuel costs, however, rose by 41.8% in Q2 FY27 due to increased volumes and a 50% higher landed cost of imported coal. Despite this, Adani Power maintained control over operating expenses. A notable factor contributing to the reported profit was a one-time prior period revenue recognition of ₹2,422.25 Crore in Q2 FY27, related to historical energy charges under certain PPAs.
