DICABS announced on October 22, 2026, its plan to install a new Catenary Continuous Vulcanisation (CCV) line for manufacturing cables up to 132 kV. This expansion, requiring an investment of ₹25 crore, is expected to be completed by December 31, 2027. The move aims to meet the increasing demand for underground high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables.
DICABS Invests in Manufacturing Expansion
DICABS, through its subsidiary Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited, has announced a strategic expansion of its manufacturing capabilities with the addition of a new Catenary Continuous Vulcanisation (CCV) line. This new line, designed to produce cables up to 132 kV, will significantly enhance the company’s capacity in the high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cable segment.
Investment and Timeline
The investment required for this expansion is estimated at ₹25 crore, which includes provisions for floor extension at the Vadodara plant. The delivery of the necessary plant and machinery is anticipated by August 2027, with the entire line targeted for commissioning by December 31, 2027. This timeline aligns with the company’s growth strategy to capitalize on the escalating demand for underground cabling solutions.
Meeting Market Demand
This capacity addition is driven by the growing demand for underground cables from state utilities, transmission developers, renewable energy parks, and data centers. DICABS currently operates six CCV lines and five Silane Lines, and this new installation will bolster its position as a leading manufacturer in the MV and EHV cable market. The company highlighted that its existing EHV order book is robust, and customers are increasingly seeking larger volumes on shorter timelines.
Existing Infrastructure Support
The new CCV line will be supported by DICABS’s established in-house facilities, including its own aluminium rod mills, in-house compounding capabilities, and NABL-accredited high-voltage test laboratories rated up to 765 kV. This integrated approach ensures quality control and operational efficiency throughout the manufacturing process.
