HUDCO: Promoter Shareholding of 75% Consolidated Under MoHUA

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) has announced a significant consolidation of its promoter shareholding. Following a transfer from the Ministry of Rural Development, the entire 75% promoter stake is now held by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), its administrative ministry. This move clarifies the ownership structure and strengthens the government’s oversight of HUDCO.

HUDCO Promoter Shareholding Consolidated Under MoHUA

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) has issued a corporate disclosure regarding a significant change in its promoter shareholding. In a communication dated September 22, 2026, received from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, it was informed that shares previously held under the demat account of the Ministry of Rural Development have been transferred. These shares constituted 20.73% of HUDCO’s total shareholding.

Clarification on Share Transfer

The transfer has been made to the demat account of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Consequently, the entire promoter shareholding of HUDCO, which stands at 75%, is now consolidated under MoHUA, identified as the company’s administrative ministry. This consolidation aims to streamline governance and oversight by centralizing the promoter stake within the relevant ministry.

Background and Previous Intimation

This disclosure follows an earlier intimation provided by HUDCO on September 2, 2026. At that time, HUDCO had stated that the President of India, acting through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (54.27%) and the Ministry of Rural Development (20.73%), held the 75% promoter shareholding. The subsequent transfer of the Ministry of Rural Development’s stake to MoHUA now clarifies the current ownership structure.

HUDCO emphasizes that this transfer retains the Government of India’s overall shareholding at the existing 75%. Further developments in this regard will be communicated in due course.
