ONGC: Appoints Shri Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem as Director (Production)

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has announced the appointment of Shri Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem as its new Director (Production). This significant role change is effective from September 21, 2026, and will continue until his superannuation on September 30, 2029, or further orders. Mr. Nettem brings over three decades of experience in the energy sector, with extensive expertise in offshore and onshore operations, strategic business development, and international project management.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has officially announced the appointment of Shri Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem to the critical position of Director (Production). This strategic move, effective from September 21, 2026, was approved by the Board of Directors and is in line with directives from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.

A Leader with Extensive Energy Sector Experience

Shri Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem is a seasoned energy sector professional with a distinguished career spanning over three decades within ONGC. His expertise encompasses both offshore and onshore oil and gas operations, strategic business development, project execution, and international upstream exposure. A Mechanical Engineer by qualification, he began his journey at ONGC’s Mumbai High Offshore Oilfield, where he developed a strong foundation in complex production management.

Complementing his technical acumen, Shri Nettem holds a master’s degree in international business. His career includes significant contributions to feasibility studies for greenfield refinery projects and playing a key role in joint ventures for production commencement and the commissioning of the world’s longest heated crude oil pipeline. His tenure at ONGC Videsh Limited provided valuable international experience in deepwater oilfield operations and business development.

As Asset Manager for ONGC’s Assam Asset, he demonstrated focused leadership in sustaining production from mature fields. Subsequently, he applied his cross-functional expertise to the Mumbai High Asset, ONGC’s most critical offshore producing asset, guiding initiatives to enhance production performance and asset integrity. Furthermore, Shri Nettem chairs IGGL, a joint venture developing the North East gas pipeline network, aligning with national energy policies.

Leadership and Strategic Vision

The company has confirmed that Shri Nettem is not debarred from holding office by any SEBI Order or other authority. His professional journey highlights a blend of operational excellence, strategic foresight, and people-centric leadership, positioning him as a valuable asset for ONGC’s senior executive team and its board-level responsibilities.
