Premier Energies Limited has commissioned its 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. This expansion brings the company’s total solar cell capacity to 10.6 GW, solidifying its position as India’s largest cell manufacturer. The ₹3,293 crore facility is designed for high-throughput, digitally enabled production, targeting an average solar cell efficiency of approximately 25.8%.
India’s Largest Solar Cell Facility Operational
Premier Energies Limited has officially commissioned its new 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility located in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. This milestone achievement, completed on time and within budget, marks a significant expansion in the company’s production capabilities. The facility is designed to produce approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour and is also geared for future TOPCon+ upgrades.
Record Capacity and Investment
With the addition of this new plant, Premier Energies Limited has increased its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW, establishing it as India’s largest cell manufacturer. The project spans 101 acres and represents a capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore. This substantial investment underscores the company’s commitment to scaling its operations and meeting the growing demand for high-efficiency solar products.
Strategic Outlook and Technology Integration
Mr. Chiranjeev Saluja, Managing Director of Premier Energies Limited, highlighted the significance of this development, stating, “Commissioning India’s largest solar cell manufacturing facility on time and within budget is an important execution milestone for Premier Energies.” The company is optimistic about future order prospects and the demand for its solar products. The facility integrates advanced digital systems and artificial intelligence for precision manufacturing, aiming for improved throughput, consistency, and operating efficiency. The plant is future-ready, with potential upgrades to next-generation TOPCon+ technologies.
Sustainability and Future Growth
The facility incorporates a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system, emphasizing Premier Energies’ commitment to responsible resource management and sustainable manufacturing practices. The company is also undertaking a broader ₹12,500 crore capital expenditure programme aimed at doubling its solar manufacturing capacity, expanding backward integration, and diversifying into inverters, transformers, and battery energy storage systems.
