Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially launched its ‘Auto Green Mission,’ introducing automatic S-CNG (Sequential Compressed Natural Gas) variants for its best-selling Swift, Dzire, and Baleno models. This strategic move aims to address the increasing consumer preference for environmentally conscious and fuel-efficient vehicles without compromising on driving convenience.
Key Features and Benefits
The newly launched automatic S-CNG cars are designed for the modern Indian customer, offering the ease of automatic driving coupled with superior fuel efficiency. The Dzire automatic S-CNG model stands out, claiming the title of India’s most fuel-efficient sedan with an impressive mileage of 36.47 km/kg. The company highlighted that these vehicles are powered by the Advanced Z12E 1.2L engine, featuring Dual Variable Valve Timing (Dual VVT) and Idle Start Stop (ISS) technology, paired with Maruti Suzuki’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission. This five-speed gearbox provides the convenience of an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
Market Strategy and Demand
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated, “We are always listening to our customers. With modern Indian cities experiencing rapid growth, new-age customers are looking for the convenience of an automatic car without compromising on fuel-efficiency and performance in traffic conditions.” The company has observed a significant increase in demand for its S-CNG range, with a 58% rise in sales during the first quarter of the year compared to the same period last year. July 2026 saw the highest-ever S-CNG vehicle sales for Maruti Suzuki, with 83,000 units sold.
