Hyundai Motor India has announced a leadership transition, with Mr. Unsoo Kim stepping down as Managing Director at the close of business hours on December 31, 2025, to return to a strategic role at Hyundai Motor Company in South Korea. Mr. Tarun Garg, currently Whole-time Director, will succeed him as Managing Director & CEO, effective January 01, 2026, pending shareholder approval. This move signifies a strategic shift in leadership for the company.
Leadership Succession Plan
Hyundai Motor India has formally approved its succession plan for the Managing Director role. Mr. Unsoo Kim, the current Managing Director, will be returning to Hyundai Motor Company in South Korea for a strategic assignment. His departure is scheduled for the end of business on December 31, 2025.
New Managing Director & CEO
The company has announced that Mr. Tarun Garg will be taking over as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He is currently serving as the Whole-time Director. The new appointment takes effect on January 01, 2026 and is subject to shareholder approval. In the interim, Mr. Garg will be designated as MD & CEO designate.
Tarun Garg’s Background
Mr. Tarun Garg is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi Technological University and also holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. Before joining Hyundai Motor India, he had a career with Maruti Suzuki India Limited, holding roles like Regional Sales Manager, Commercial Business Head, National Sales and Network Head, and Executive Director of Marketing, Logistics, Parts and Accessories.
