Punjab National Bank: Shareholder Director Election Cancelled, Incumbent Continues

Punjab National Bank has officially announced the cancellation of the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) that was scheduled for September 25, 2026. The primary purpose of this EGM was to elect one Shareholder Director.

Sole Nominee Deemed Elected

The Bank received three nominations for the Shareholder Director position by the deadline of September 10, 2026. Following a review, the Board of Directors found the nomination of Smt. Vandana Bhagavatula to be ‘FIT and PROPER’. As she was the ONLY valid nomination, she has been deemed elected as the Shareholder Director. Her election is in accordance with various banking regulations and schemes.

Candidate Profile and Tenure

Smt. Vandana Bhagavatula is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with 26 years of experience in accountancy, banking, finance, audit, and risk. She also holds a Diploma in Information Systems Audit. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce and she is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) with DISA.

She will continue to hold office beyond her current term ending on October 5, 2026, and will serve for a period of three years thereafter. The Bank confirmed that there is no inter se relationship between Smt. Bhagavatula and other Directors, nor is she debarred from holding such office.
