Jain Irrigation Systems Limited has been empanelled by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply and installation of 5,000 solar pumps. The contract is valued at ₹117.96 crore, inclusive of GST, under the ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana’. This significant order underscores Jain Irrigation’s expanding role in Maharashtra’s solar irrigation infrastructure and is expected to be completed within 60 days.
Major Empanelment for Solar Pumps
Jain Irrigation Systems Limited has announced the receipt of a Letter of Empanelment from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). This strategic agreement covers the supply and installation of 5,000 Off-Grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) across Maharashtra. The total value of this contract is pegged at ₹117.96 crore, a figure that includes Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Project Under Government Initiative
The empanelment has been awarded under the state government’s ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana,’ an initiative designed to promote solar-powered irrigation solutions for farmers. Under this new contract, Jain Irrigation will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, encompassing design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of agricultural solar pumping systems. These systems will be available in capacities of 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP. The project is scheduled for completion within a timeframe of 60 days.
Strengthening Longstanding Partnership
This latest achievement further solidifies Jain Irrigation’s enduring relationship with MSEDCL in the solar irrigation sector within Maharashtra. The company has a robust history of collaboration, dating back to 2015. Previously, under the Atal Solar Pump Project, Jain Irrigation successfully supplied and installed 5,039 solar pumps. In the 2019-20 period, an additional 1,539 pumps were delivered as part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. More recently, under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, which commenced in December 2024, the company completed the supply and installation of 12,457 pumps, a project valued at ₹307.62 crore. The addition of these 5,000 solar pumps signifies Jain Irrigation’s continuous growth and commitment to advancing solar-powered agricultural infrastructure in the region.
