Canara Bank: RBI Approves Call Option Exercise on ₹1,500 Crore AT1 Bonds

Canara Bank has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to exercise its call option on Basel III Compliant Additional Tier I (AT1) Bonds. The total principal amount for this option is ₹1,500 Crore. The bank will proceed with this exercise subject to the terms of issuance and applicable regulations, as confirmed in a communication dated September 15, 2026.

Canara Bank announced today that it has received the necessary permission from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to exercise its call option on a series of Basel III Compliant Additional Tier I (AT1) Bonds. This significant approval pertains to bonds with the ISIN INE476A08126 and covers a principal amount of ₹1,500 Crore.

Terms and Conditions

The exercise of this call option is contingent upon adherence to the original terms and conditions of the bond issuance, as well as all prevailing laws and regulations. Canara Bank has confirmed that it is in the process of executing the call option in accordance with these stipulations.
