He will formally assume the role of Chief Manufacturing Officer from April 1, 2027, following a transition period with the outgoing officer, Mr. E R Raj Narayanan. Mr. Chandra brings over 33 years of experience in the manufacturing industry.

Mr. Ashish Chandra has been appointed as the Chief Manufacturing Officer (Designate), with his tenure commencing on September 16, 2026. This appointment positions him as a key member of the Senior Management Personnel of the company from the same date.
Seamless Succession Plan
The current Chief Manufacturing Officer, Mr. E R Raj Narayanan, is set to relinquish his position on March 31, 2027. His departure will be preceded by a planned transition period, ensuring a smooth handover of responsibilities to Mr. Chandra, who will officially take over the role on April 1, 2027.
Profile of New Officer
Mr. Ashish Chandra comes with an extensive background, boasting approximately 33 years of post-qualification experience in the manufacturing sector. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions overseeing large-scale manufacturing operations, project execution, and operational transformations. An accomplished technocrat, Mr. Chandra has contributed to significant industrial advancements, including the development of India’s first 980 MPa cold-rolled steel. He is a Mechanical Engineer from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and has completed the Senior Leadership Programme at Brown University. His expertise also extends to research, with eight technical publications and five granted patents to his name.
