This significant initiative is designed to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship within India’s dynamic energy sector. The event served as a crucial platform for bringing together startups, academia, and prominent players from the Oil & Gas industry.
Fostering Collaboration and Future Solutions
The ‘MC² Plus Hyderabad Connect’ aims to facilitate the journey of innovative ideas from conceptualization to practical implementation and scaling. Key discussions revolved around leveraging digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics to enhance asset performance, operational efficiency, and sustainability across the energy value chain. The initiative also emphasized the importance of making the energy sector more resilient, efficient, and technologically sovereign, aligning with India’s broader economic and environmental goals.
Key Imperatives for the Energy Sector
Shri Deepak Gupta, CMD, GAIL, highlighted five critical imperatives for the energy sector: efficiency, technological self-reliance, achieving net-zero emissions, developing self-sustaining energy systems, and fostering technological independence. He strongly advocated for the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Invent in India’ initiatives, with a vision to ‘Innovate in India, deploy in India, and Export from India’ to secure India’s energy future.
Startup Ecosystem and Funding Opportunities
The event provided a platform for startups and innovators to engage with industry leaders and explore the MC2 Plus accelerator program. Selected startups are eligible for convertible funding of up to ₹50 lakh and milestone-based funding of up to ₹1.5 crore. The program is set to support 30 high-potential early-stage startups through mentorship, technical expertise, pilot opportunities, and access to industry networks. This initiative signifies GAIL’s proactive approach to nurturing groundbreaking solutions for the energy industry.
